BEER HAIKU #62 Moon Dog Beer from Fermenter No. 2 Imperial Amber Ale

Moon Dog’s Mummy Have a Bite is a specialty amber ale, aged in Calvados barrels. As the name may imply, it’s a bit like drinking a boozy, liquid toffee apple. For this week’s new release at Hashigo Zake Cult Beer Bar, the team offered an un-Calvados-ed version with the somewhat ungainly title above. In the spirit of inquiry, the Thirsties tested it against a bottle of the commercial version.

Moon Dog Beer from Fermenter No. 2 Imperial Amber Ale (8.2% ABV)

Antiseptic bite

Too much sugar on porridge

Tail wind numbs my buds

Food match: Aged cheddar, roast nuts, ginger creme brûlée (maybe?)
It’s the kind of beer you drink when: you’re sitting around a bonfire on hipster Halloween, i.e. Day of the Dead
