BEER HAIKU #88 Mata Matawhaka IIPA

Mata’s more experimental concoctions have become an occasional but welcome fixture in Hashigo Zake Cult Beer Bar’s programme of weekly new releases. This week we had an Imperial IPA that can aptly be described as a ‘bad matawhaka’ (in an Isaac Hayes kind of way).

Mata Matawhaka IIPA (8% ABV)
Perfumed passion fruit
Late Winter ale; spring’s promise
Rich, red ruby-gold

Food match: salty liquorice,

It’s the kind of beer you drink: When discussing crimes of passion.

hai·ku (hk)
