BEER HAIKU #55 Yeastie Boys/Panhead/Firestone Walker Engelbert Pumpernickel Trans-Pacific Strong Golden Rye Ale

In a first for one of the collaborators at least, Yeastie Boys have finally made an appearance as a Tuesday new release at Hashigo Zake Cult Beer Bar. Happily, the occasion also marked HZ’s fourth birthday and Yeastie Boys’ birthday.

The consensus of Die Durstige Knaben was that the brew offered an intriguing balance of spice and hops, suggesting almost autumnal flavours such as roast chestnuts and pumpkin pie.

Yeastie Boys/Panhead/Firestone Walker Engelbert Pumpernickel Trans-Pacific Strong Golden Rye Ale (9.2% ABV)

Double birthday treat

Balanced three way aggression

Crazy lemonade

Food match: Caesar salad (cuts through the garlic), anything with Sriracha sauce

It’s the kind of beer you drink: At a particularly messy picnic. When you want to sing the chorus of ‘Ten Guitars’ very loudly.

  1. Far be it for me to pull up our most erudite customers on their Deutsche Sprache, but should that be “Die Durstige Knaben”?

  2. You know what, I think you’re right Dominic. The QC of this blog has dipped a tad recently! There will be an inquisition…..
